Spey Casting Courses on the Upper Wye 2020

Saturday and Sunday 18th & 19th April

Saturday and Sunday 25th & 26th April

This course is an intensive course in Spey Casting for those who are beginners, improvers or experienced anglers who need to sharpen their technique. As it is limited to four anglers with two AAPGAI instructors – Illtyd Griffiths and Jonathan Morris – the course will allow plenty of time for individual tuition during the two days.

We will be casting on two separate beats, one in Boughrood and one outside Builth to allow us to concentrate on casting off both banks (and therefore both shoulders). All aspects of Spey Casting can be covered, depending on individual needs. Suitable tackle is available if required.

Cost of the course is £275 per angler to include soup and sandwiches at lunchtime.

If you would like further details or to book on this course please either telephone Illtyd Griffiths: 01654 781365 or 07974 942853 or Jonathan Morris: 07909 968348

Techniques for Trout Course

AAPGAI Instructors Jonathan Morris and Craig Evans will be running a Techniques Course for Trout and Grayling on May 30th & 31st .

The course will be covering the four basic techniques used to fish for trout and grayling – dries, spiders, streamers and nymphs.

There will be a chance to tie a simple trout fly, then go out and fish with it.

It’s a practical course so along with practising the techniques, you will have the chance to learn new casts or improve your existing.

A buffet lunch, tea and coffee will be provided on both days.

The course will be held on the Rectory beat on the River Wye.

It will be restricted to 6 rods so everyone will have plenty of one to one tuition, and we will cater for all abilities.

Tackle can be provided but please provide prior notice.

The course will run from 9am to 5pm. Rods will have the opportunity to continue fishing in the evening.

Directions and meeting place will be provided on confirmation of booking.

The course will cost £220.
